Engin introduced us to the Team in Training program ran through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We are training to participate in an endurance event as members of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
We are completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
This is our first Triathlon. Not only are we competing for people battling cancer, our personal goal it to get fit and help Juan learn how to swim by March 8th! So, if anything donate to Juan's adult swim class. ... LOL We're just joking, but seriously Juan is a non-swimmer and is getting out of his comfort zone and has committed to learn to swim in order to compete with us. Our race days is June 27th, please feel free to join us on race day for support to the finish line.
Please make a donation to support the Lambdas' participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Donate, it feels good & it's TAX DEDUCTIBLE! Our team goal is $6,000.
75 cents of every dollar goes toward the cause (research, etc...) and 25 cents to non-profit organization The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for maintaining programs like Team in Training.
We hope you will visit our blog and site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see our progress. Thanks for your support!

Good luck guys!!! Soon as I get my refund, I'll donate to yall. Have you tried hitting up churches? There are always people making announcements for their causes and setting up outside the church for people to donate. Think about it. St. mattthew's church in Loch Raven is really supportive.
ReplyDeleteLove you guys!!!
Hilda.
Hey!
ReplyDeleteEngin,
I just saw your first video blog and was wondering if you guys knew what kind of swim start you would have... I ask because my frist triathlon was in the ocean and we started with age groups. That means that you will be starting your swim with 25 or more people and they will swim over you and kick you and so forth. I suggest that you guys swim in the same lane very close to each other a couple of times. It can be very overwhelming if you dont! Let me know if you have any questions I will definately help!
Have fun and Good Luck
Kat Macias ;)
Thanks Kat! You know, to be quite honest, we haven't thought or worried about that yet. I know that our coach is going to eventually have all 20 or so of us swim in two lanes of the pool. Then we'll actually do the lake as a team to get used to open water. Juan is learning to swim so we have to really support him. I'm really excited because i know that this one won't be impossible coming from our fitness levels. We want to do a full tri next year. This one will get our feet wet at least ;)
